NHK showed us the way, and personal experience showed me as well that no one can save you. Even if they tried you'd have to put some serious effort yourself and you don't want that, do you? The sole reason you haven't escaped yet is because you subjectively stop yourself from doing so, the consequences of trying are minimal and yet you're still here like a rat in a maze.
Every person would rather take a tiny scrap of life rather than get hurt physically or emotionally by taking action, you haven't taken action. Why? because you don't want to.

Every time I go outside I just know everyone can sense how pathetic I am so I only go outside the house a couple times a year when necessary. I realize that this is mostly only a problem because I let it be one. People always tell me nobody cares how I look, how socially incompetent I am, but I don't know how to make myself stop caring. It just seems like I'm doing everyone a favor by shutting myself inside and not forcing them to look at me or interact with me. Plus it helps keep my paranoid anxieties at bay.

There's a reason a dign retirement (fancy word for old age neethood) is an endgoal, rather than a means to an end. Retiring young before getting wise and comfy is just a direct downgrade of the real thing, too poor to do anything but too comfy to do something about it.

this... I can relate to this a bit too much. Let me tell ya something in reality people look at you as much as you look at them, that's why direct judgement is rare. Treatment though, it's another thing entirely and is something subconscious. Most people won't even notice they're discriminating against you until you tell them about it. Where I come from we have a saying that goes like this: "how they see you, they treat you. If they see you badly they mistreat you"
the lesson? dress well, if you have a problem with how noticeable your neethood is remember to shave, take a shower and use more than a smelly shirt, crocs and old shorts when you go to the store to buy something. What helped me a lot is having sets of clothes, and dressing up as if I had something to do, even if I didn't. wearing nice clothes in nice places and pretending I'm somebody else. All these things made me feel as if my power level was effectively hidden. PS: relax, but a bit of paranoia isn't unwelcome, it can save your ass but you have to remember to speak up when it kicks in and you know you're screwed for example if you order a wrong drink at a bar
